Product REVIEW and THOUGHTS: EOS Lip Balm - Smooth Sphere
eos lip balm that makes you smile.
Long-lasting moisture
Shea butter & vitamin E
Smoothes on clear
New smooth sphere precisely glides on to lips
Twist-off top
Gluten-free
Paraben-free
Petrolatum-free
Phthalate-free
eos lip balm is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth.
My Thoughts:
The packaging is unique, its sphere shape makes it different then the traditional lip balm look. Its non slip, twist-off top makes it easy to hold on to. My first purchase was the Lemon Drop with SPF 15. Its natural lemon flavor was not over powering as one may think when they see lemon as a key ingredient. As for the texture it was not sticky or greasy, and it applied smoothly. It was a good 3-4 hours between applications. I like the fact that it has SPF 15 included in it, especially with the summer months coming up.
All in all I am pleased with this purchase. I did go out and purchased 2 additional lip balms Summer Fruits, Sweet Mint. I think this product is worth the amount, and I would purchase it again.
Size: .25 oz (7g)
Price: $3.29 USD
Available at: Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Target or online at www.evolutionofsmooth.com

Makeup Expiration Dates
Question: Does an expiration date apply when it comes to makeup?
According to a March 9, 2000, FDA report (revised October 15, 2002), "There are no regulations or requirements under current United States law that require cosmetic manufacturers to print expiration dates on the labels of cosmetic products. Manufacturers have the responsibility to determine shelf life for products. Consumers should be aware that expiration dates are simply ‘rules of thumb,’ and that a product’s safety may expire long before the expiration date if the product has not been properly stored. Cosmetics that have been improperly stored – for example, exposed to high temperatures or sunlight, or opened and examined by consumers prior to final sale – may deteriorate substantially before the expiration date. On the other hand, products stored under ideal conditions may be acceptable long after the expiration date has been reached.”
Behind most cosmetic products is a small yet noticeable picture of a open jar or a open container. Printed on that jar or container is a number and the letter "M" listed next to it. This information will determine approximately how many months that particular product may be good for according to the manufacturer.
For cosmetic products that may not have a expiration date listed on it, the following information can be used as a guideline to determine the appropriate time to throw out any old makeup.
Foundation: 3-6 months
Concealer: Wand applicator concealers should be tossed within 6 months since they’re likely to grow bacteria. Stick, twist-up tubes, or compact concealers can last up to 12 months, especially if you use a makeup brush to apply the product.
Pressed powder cosmetics: Facial powder, blush and eyeshadow should be thrown out after one year. If you get an eye infection, however, you’ll have to toss out any eyeshadow you’ve used, to avoid re-infecting yourself.
Lip gloss and lipstick: 1 year
Mascara: You should always replace mascara after 3 months. And toss it immediately if it becomes dry, or you develop an eye infection. Remember: Never, ever
share mascara!
Eye and lip pencils: If you sharpen them every few days, makeup pencils can last a year or longer. It’s time to trash them when they become dry, crumbly, and hard to apply.
All-natural cosmetics: Because these products do not contain preservatives, they should be used or discarded within 6 months.
Another great source of information to determined the shelf life or expiration date of a particular cosmetic item would be to visit http://checkcosmetic.net.
Checkcosmetic is a site that is able to search for the expiration date based on the brand and the batch code that is printed on all cosmetic products. This batch code can consist of letters or numbers and even at times both.
So what better time to pull out all of your makeup and start reviewing what items may need to be thrown out. Many makeup brands (if they haven't done so already) will be launching their 2011 Spring/Summer Collections. This is the perfect time to update your own makeup collection.
Happy shopping!!! ☺

MAC has just announced that they will be collaborating with fashion designer Gareth Pugh for a collection that will launch this November. This Fall collection will feature special packaging, color products and accessories.
Gareth Pugh is best known for his otherworldly backstage style which focuses heavily on his much preferred palette of black, white and grays. Many celebrities such as Rihanna, Beyonce and Lady Gaga have been seen wearing many pieces from his collection.
I will be updating my blog as more details become available about this collection.
From MAC:
"Today, M·A·C Cosmetics confirmed an upcoming collaboration with designer, Gareth Pugh. The brand will celebrate the partnership with Gareth next month at a cocktail party in New York City in anticipation of the global launch starting November 2011. The collection will include multiple colour products and accessories in special packaging. M·A·C has supported Gareth since he first began showing his collections nearly seven years ago".

MAC SURF, BABY! COLLECTION
Just in time for summer MAC has launched their Surf, Baby! Collection.
This collection features bright, bold and sun-kissed colour that captures the spirit of summer. The limited-edition packaging is fun and refreshing, which is a nice temporary change from the traditional packaging.
This collection offers so many pieces that are beyond tempting. Be sure that certain items will be sold out within weeks if not days. It's been reported that some locations my have already sold out in some pieces. I made it a point to head to my local MAC store this past Thursday and pick up some of my personal favorites from this collection.
Some of the items I picked up:
My Paradise Cheek Powder
This Cheek Powder is Coral in color with a Gold spray overlay. My Paradise is sure to compliment any shin tone.
Eyeshadows:

1. Saffron (Deep Coral/Caramel... Satin Finish)
2. Surf USA (Aqua/Teal Pearl... Frost Finish)
3. Sun Blonde (Mustard Yellow/Gold...Frost Finish)
These eyeshadows are very pigmented, and with great base or primer the shadow will last longer and will not crease.
Powerpoint Eye Pencil:
Blue Moon
The MAC Powerpoint Pencil is Teal with Gold pearl and will enhance your eyes and make a perfect contrast for the mascara and eyeshadow.
Lipsticks:
Bust Out (on left): Is a pink/purple color (similar to Up The Amp) with a luster finish
Hibiscus (on right): Is a reddish coral color. Great for summer!
Lipglass:
Strange Potion: Is a re-promote from the Venomous Villains Collection. However it's a beautiful coral lipglass that no girl should be with out this summer.
MAC's Surf, Baby! Collection has more many more pieces to it, however these are the few that appealed to me. If you haven't done so already, differently head out to your local MAC store or counter to view more from this collection.
